Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation (The OBKP Foundation) was
established in 1989 as a means for stewarding
donated funds in support of the residents living at
The Kiwanis Pavilion.
Our
Mission: to support a culture of Care with
Compassion for residents, with dementia, in a home
like environment.
Our
Purpose: to provide financial support for special
projects, programs, and improvements to the Pavilion
over time
Our
goals: to raise sufficient funds through private
and corporate donations, fund raising events (link to
Art from the Heart), legacies, and grants to provide
resources for programs; services; special equipment
and furnishings for a home-like environment.
To
put 98% of every dollar donated toward supporting
resident services, equipment and systems.
To
address the funding short fall that exists between the
funding from the Vancouver Island Health Authority
(link) and the costs of providing a quality service for
our residents.
To work in partnership with
organizations such as:
- The Kiwanis
Pavilion Family Council
- The Victoria
Foundation (link);
- The
Alzheimer's Society (link)
- The Victoria
Conservatory of Music (link)
- The BC
School of Art Therapy (link)
- Garth Homer
Society (link)
- And more
Governance:
Governed by an 11 member board of community
volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Oak Bay (link) and
as of 2005/2006, a percentage (how much) of non-Kiwanis
members were invited to be on the Board.
